About Me

My photo
Tucson, Arizona, United States
I am a spiritual person in love with nature and life. I am a recovering alcoholic and cancer survivor working very hard at making a good life for myself. I am of Cherokee and Irish blood and respectful of other's feelings and beliefs. I had to let a lot of people in my life go because of my sobriety and it hurts, but I have to do what is right for me. I am good, wise and strong and I choose the good life. I feel friendships are very important for ones growth, so I welcome any new friends that may come my way.

Looks like it is going to be a nice, day today; although it is beginning to get hot. Yesterday, the thermometer on the porch said 100.4 deg F. @ 3:00 pm. I don't know what the official high was. It seems to always be hotter where I live than wherever they get the official temp. It hasn't been too warm yet but it is coming so today I guess I'll get on the roof and service the cooler. Might as well get it over with. Besides that, I have nothing to do except take my friend, Witchy, to get her grocery shopping done; but I am sure something else will come up. I may just hang out with her and see what happens.

You know it's a hot Arizona day when...

You take the temperature of your dashboard and it reads 215 degrees!

The life guard jumps in the pool even though nobody is drowning!

You only get 3 mpg due to the rate at which gas evaporates out of your tank.

Your a/c runs all day long just to keep it down to 90 degrees.

You'd pay $100 for 8 oz of water.

You have a car fire more than once every 10 miles

The tools in your trunk are hotter than your over-heating radiator

Water turns to vapor before it comes out your garden hose

You can't remember your name

Lance Armstrong gets completely worn out after riding 2 miles!

your whole car melted

Birds crash into stuff

Nobody shows up for your yard sale

There's 5 gallons of sweat built up in the seat of your car

Everyone in the whole state is either in their air conditioned car, office or house, or in the pool!

Every traffic accident is a hit-and-run, because nobody wants to get out of their car until they get to an air conditioned building.

Hallucination!

You notice your car overheating before you drive it.

Your car starts sweating!

Cops only chase you if you exceed 100mph, because that's when their A/C really kicks in

You ask your boss for extra work so you can be in the air conditioning as much as possible

You're not the only person in the emergency room with a steering wheel stuck to his fingers

Hot air balloons can't go up, because the air outside is hotter than the air inside.

You died

Airplanes can't land because the asphalt is too soft.

You need a spatula to remove your clothing.

The beer gut and big butt don't keep you from wearing shorts.

You are sweating in both directions -- up and down!

You can open and drive your car without touching the car door or the steering wheel.

You would give anything to be able to splash cold water on your face.

The politicians take their hands out of your pockets to fan themselves.

People walking down the sidewalk spontaneously burst into flames.

You've been getting hot flashes, and you're a man.

A $20 surcharge is added to your bill when you eat at air-conditioned restaurants.

Sunscreen is sold at the front of the checkout counter, a formula less than 30 spf is a joke, and you wear it just to go shopping.

Your brother's braces make blisters on his lips.

You can attend any function wearing shorts and a tank top.

You know that "dry heat" is comparable to what hits you in the face when you open your oven door.

You are willing to park 3 blocks away because you found shade.

When even the weeds are wilting

The swans in the park come in "original recipe" and "extra crispy."

It's above 100 degrees at midnight!

Brigit Lights Her Own

Of the first fire, she sings -
of the first fire of Spring, she sings,
Her voice ringing clear in the cold winter air,
as she rises and gathers her things.

In the first light, she yawns -
in the first light of dawn, she yawns,
The grove is asleep in Brigit's fair keep
and the door fills with mist from the lawns.

In her bare feet, she walks -
in her bare feet, in the frost, she walks
She walks to the well, her buckets to fill,
where they've hung strips of colorful cloth.

Like water the Spring shall rise -
like water, the Spring, she cries, shall rise!
When weather is harsh, and the reeds in the marsh
bend with the snow and the ice.

So sweet is the song of the water -
so sweet is the singing of fire and water
She pours in the pot all the water she's got
to heat for her sons and her daughters.

Of the sacred fire, she shouts!
The sacred fire's gone out! she shouts,
But no one hears through the sleep in their ears,
she's the only one up and about.

So singing she carries the wood -
so singing she carries the load of wood.
She might as well sing, she's done everything,
yet her people are kind and good.

But sometimes the people forget
Sometimes the people, says Brigit, forget.
So she kindles the flame, and she calls it by name,
and it rises and comes to her yet.

Of the first fire, she sings -
Of the first fire burning, she sings -
Then she disappears, like the smoke in the air,
like the unseen beginnings of Spring.

What Ta Do?

It looks like it's going to be a beautiful day. I don't know what I'm gonna do, but I'm sure something will come up; it always does. I would hate to see a nice day like this go to waste. I think I will start the day going to Druid worship and go from there. Whatever I do, I promise myself to be sober; Today is 78 days of sobriety for me and I will make it 79.

It's a nice day; fair, 64 deg f getting to a high of 72 f. There is a slight breeze but it will be windy later today (20 to 30 mph); that's fine with me. I like a little wind, It makes things seem more alive with the trees swaying and singing their nature songs and the feel of it as it caresses me, cleansing and refreshing. It is a good day to live. I don't have much to do today.; the main thing being therapy this afternoon, after which I will pick up Witchy to come and spend a couple days with me. I am looking forward to that. We have a good time when we're together. Well that's my day today. Wish everyone a beautiful day as well.

My first post

This blog is about nothing in particular. I'll post different stuff like things I find cool on the net or what happens in a day or what is going on in my chaotic mind; I suppose you could say it is about life and that may be a messed up story or may not. I guess we'll have to see what happens. That is all I have to say right now; it's getting late and I'm getting tired, so I'm going to try to find a feww friends here and then call it a night.
